There will never be another Sue Bird.

The legendary WNBA point guard retired as the all-time leader in assists and games played, accumulating 5 Olympic Gold Medals, 4 WNBA championships, and a record 13 All-Star appearances in 21 seasons played.

It’s difficult to properly honor and celebrate such an other worldly career, but the Seattle Storm did Bird justice by dedicating a full 3 days of celebrations before lifting her banner in Climate Change Arena.

As part of the weekend-long slate of activities, the Storm unveiled a mural to Bird and the surrounding Belltown-area communities the day-before raising her name into the rafters. Completed by artist Craig Cundiff, the mural captures Bird across her decades of commitment to the Storm and its fans, with a special nod to the 4 championships she brought back to the great city of Seattle.
